Clinical Psychologist Aldo Gurgone is a well-known Australian relationships therapist. He has been practising family therapy since 1972. His experience and background in family therapy spans work in Australia, the UK, Italy, Malaysia, Singapore & Peru. Aldo continues to provide individual, couple and family therapy as well as Clinical Training & Supervision of Mental Health Professionals & Agencies. Aldo established the William Street Family Therapy Centre in 1987 as a Centre of Excellence in Family and Relationship Therapy and Professional Training. William Street Family Therapy Centre has built a strong reputation for both therapy and training excellence. This is due in no small part to our team of experienced and qualified family therapists and trainers.

Aldo’s vision involves providing the best family and relationship therapy training and client services available. As part of this he has recruited experienced training staff (see below) who together with Aldo provide training and assistance to a wide range of family therapy professionals annually. In 2021 Aldo received the prestigious award for outstanding services to the field of Family Therapy in Australia by the Australian Association of Family Therapy (AAFT).

Rosemary Watkins MA (Human Services)

Rosemary is an experienced therapist, trainer and group facilitator who has worked with individuals, couples, and families for thirty years following a career in Intensive Care Nursing. 
Originally from Ireland, Rosemary has chosen Australia as home and lives with her family in Perth, Western Australia. In her clinical practice  she focuses on loss, grief, trauma and relationships and has a strong commitment to raising community awareness around the impact of loss on individuals and  families.  
 In her role as a professional Trainer, Rosemary has offered training at a tertiary level in Government and Non-Government  settings  in Perth and overseas.   She currently runs  courses in Meditation/Mindfulness and Relaxation practices and Residential Workshop/Retreats for therapists and other health professionals.  For more information please see www.familytherapy.com.au

Steve Lionello (M.Soc.Sc. [counselling]). Steve provides training and supervision in couples and family therapy and maintains a private practice at William St Family Therapy Centre. Over nearly thirty years practicing in Perth, Steve has worked extensively with couples and families, addiction, domestic violence and trauma. Steve has taught and trained couple and family therapists in Perth, regional Western Australia, and internationally in Singapore, and Fiji, and has successfully presented at local and national conferences on couple therapy.
Theoretically, Steve has been most influenced by internationally renowned couple therapists/researchers Susan Johnson and John Gottman. Steve did initial training with Sue Johnson in the late 1990s in Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, and in 2008/9 trained with Drs. John and Julie Gottman in the Gottman Method. Both approaches have a foundation in strong research and practice over many years. Steve is renowned for his warm and clear approach to working with people, and has developed a reputation as an effective trainer – combining practice and theory to great effect. Lara Wise

Lara Wise is an experienced counsellor and family & relationship therapist who provides therapy for individuals, couples and families presenting with a wide range of issues. She has a heart for those who have experienced trauma and/or complex grief and believes that all people matter. Lara also has a particular passion to support and challenge couples and families to learn the art of facilitating safe, secure and emotionally available connections with each other. Lara works in private practice at William St Family Therapy Centre. Prior to working at William Street, Lara counselled individuals and helped establish a family and relationship program in the alcohol and other drug (AOD) sector. The program worked with people experiencing AOD (and/or other types of) dependencies and those supporting others with dependency issues. Whilst in the AOD sector, Lara cofacilitated groups for women struggling with AOD problems and parents supporting their children with dependency challenges. She has also presented on various topics at annual school staff retreats.

In Lara’s younger days, she worked as a Registered Nurse in hospitals, a GP surgery, then as a school nurse in an international school in Saudi Arabia, before taking over the management of their finance department. Lara worked overseas for about seven years, before retraining as a counsellor. Lara is actively involved in her adult children and grandchildren’s lives with her husband.  Lara holds a Bachelor of Nursing, Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies, Graduate Diploma in Family & Relationship Therapy, and Master of Counselling Practice.
