ONE-DAY EXPERIENTIAL WORKSHOP BY ALDO GURGONE: “DEPRESSION & OTHER MOOD DISORDERS: Working with the Family and the Relationship” Saturday 7 November 2026 (9.30am – 4.30pm)

ALDO GURGONE is a Clinical Psychologist & Director of the William Street Family Therapy Centre (Mount Lawley, Western Australia).  He has worked in Australia, the UK, Italy, South East Asia and South America, and has conducted Supervision and Training Courses in Family & 5Relationship Therapy for over 45 years.

Often, when an individual develops a mood disorder, s/he seeks assistance from the family doctor, and then gets referred for treatment.  Although the individual experiences the symptoms of the mood disorder, nevertheless, others close to the individual are also affected by the symptoms, and they can also affect the symptoms that the individual experiences.

Generally, treatment is provided for the individual with the symptoms.  However, is this the best way of treating mood disorders?  Are mood disorders simply a bio-chemical imbalance which simply require a chemical readjustment? Or are there also interpersonal factors involved both in the onset of the mood disorder, as well as in the process of the mood disorder?

This is an experiential workshop which will explore:

• Understanding mood disorders;
• Becoming more aware of mood disorders and onset factors;
• Supporting the client to develop personal awareness to deal with his/her symptoms;
• Encouraging family members to understand what’s happening for the family member;
• Facilitating family members to access their resourcefulness in helping to deal with the mood disorder;
• Exploring creative ways of working with individuals, couples and families.

This workshop is useful for anyone working with individuals, couples & families.
